As an intern student, I have had the opportunity to work with the National Family Resiliency Center. A service offered by this organization is the parent seminar for parents who are going through the transition of separation or divorce. When attending the Spanish parent seminar, it was impactful to witness the common goal all the parents had; they all wanted what was best for their children. The instructors who led the seminar helped parents understand how important it was to maintain a healthy level of communication between both parents and children during the process of separation.  The videos shown during these seminars, and the group conversations, allowed parents to understand that they were not the only ones going through this process. While observing, it was amazing to see the camaraderie  these parents developed among one  another; they shared experiences and suggestions during these sessions to help support each other. These parent seminars are designated to suggest proper ways in which both parents can co-parent in the development of their children. Though conflicts may exist between both parents, it is important to understand that it is inappropriate to involve their children in those conflicts. During the family transition the focus should be on what is in the best interest for the children above anything else.
